Brand new South Wales ladder and access factory bucks trend, will expand employing over 100 people. In a welcome contrast to local factory closures, the TB Davies group, manufacturers of ladder, access and ground support equipment, has relocated its production to a new 9-acre site in the Bridgend area. The new plant will see the group employ over 100 people, with room to expand.

The new factory will produce a range of access products from steel mobile steps to bespoke gantries for maintaining fixed and rotary wing aircraft in both the civilian and military market. The ladder assembly plant will manufacture products under the groups Horizon, Summit and Pinnacle marks for supply by their Cardiff based national distribution centre.

The opening of the new site comes at a time when the looming shutdown of the Bosch factory in Llantrisant has ripped open numerous economic wounds. The new manufacturing works will employ advanced design and production processes, which TB Davies believes will give them an edge on its rivals.

Director David Gray said, “The Company’s name is already synonymous for quality and service. However, the group’s mission is to use the new facility to develop durable and reliable products that exceeds our customers’ expectations. This vision extends from lightweight temporary ladder related product through to highly bespoke ground support equipment.”

TB Davies innovative approach to product development and superfast delivery has seen it continue to grow through the downturn. David Gray continued, “We are certainly defying the general recession as our aerospace and ground support products remain fairly niche and are sold within a market that it still growing in many areas, especially overseas. We are using the economic downturn to expand our product offering by targeting suitable business opportunities to acquire and incorporate into the TB Davies group”.

“With our extensive ladder range we now have both the capacity and capability to meet the growing demand there is for our products.”
