The group has grown substantially in the last few years and now employs well over a 100 staff, with positions still to be filled and the potential for additional jobs to be created in the next year and a half.
Director David Gray at the Cardiff site credited the growth on the technical expertise and training programs put in place have led TB Davies to have a product portfolio and service that is envied across the entire industry. The group recently acquired a series of businesses that operate in allied sectors including the prestigious trolley manufacturer Owen Holland that have also facilitated the company’s expansion and customer appeal.
David Gray explained, “We have worked closely with our financial partners and the Welsh Assembly government to ensure we secured these important engineering jobs here in South Wales. The new facility is allowing us to expand our product capabilities and we have sufficient land available to facilitate continued long term growth.”
The group produces everything from steel safety steps for warehousing through to aircraft boarding stairs at the new Bridgend plant for the aviation industry. The group has also worked closely with specialist courier Tuffnells to improve product packaging and its fulfilment services to allow safe delivery of its product the Next Day if a customer orders by 5pm.
David Gray added, “The next phase of the factories expansion will begin in the spring with a 30,000 foot high bay extension being added to allow production of Giraffe steps and bespoke gantry systems. This will allow the existing space to be used for the production of standard product lines that can be shipped immediately to our customers.”
