The UK’s leading manufacturers of Ground Support Equipment, Ladder and Access equipment has completed expansion of its factory headquarters in South Wales.
TB Davies, based in Bridgend, has completed a new 30,000 square foot manufacturing facility, including a new powder coating paint plant and training suite to be used for certified Ladder Association training and its dealer network. The development is the first major addition to the new 12 acre site acquired last year.
The factory expansion is also part of TB Davies commitment to lean production as previously the company was split over several sites in the town. TB Davies Cardiff Director David Gray commented: “This expansion is part of the continued growth of our factory on the Bridgend site, and is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the area. Operating from one modern site with huge investments in new machinery will ensure we not only deliver a better product but associated costs and lead times will also be reduced.”
The powder coating process will provide significant product benefits as the paint has excellent scratch resistance properties. It also has a pleasing ‘smooth’ appearance and forms a sealed skin around the product thus minimising corrosion risk.
The new extension has also seen the installation of two bridge cranes that will allow the precise movement of heavy loads throughout the production area and keep the factory floor clear of obstructions.
David Gray continued: “We have long been known for robust, high quality ladder products and are seeing our reputation increase dramatically for our bespoke design and build service. The new extension will help us increase our product range and production capacity.”
TB Davies was established in 1945 and its ladder and access products are used in wide range of industries including manufacturing, engineering, retail, construction, and aerospace.
