As a business founded on family values, TB Davies is delighted to be named Family Business of the Year 2016.
At the Cardiff Business Awards on Friday 24th June at the City Hall in Cardiff, this prestigious award will recognise our sustainable growth, clear vision for continuing long-term success and contribution to the local economy.
”This is an award for the business – and the whole team is part of that,” explains David Gray, our Managing Director. “I and my fellow directors want to say a big thank you to everyone for all their hard work. Without their help, we would not have won. Congratulations to all of them.”
Further special thanks go to NatWest, TB Davies’ bank for 70 years – and founder Bryn Davies’ for 30 years before that. Helping us finance new products and facilities, they’ve been reliably by our side for 100 years now.
The award follows another recent achievement: the Institute of Directors has awarded David Gray, our Managing Director and the fourth generation in the business, the prestigious title of 2016 Wales Director of the Year for a family business.
Both awards are a fitting tribute to our founder Bryn Davies – and the generations that have followed him in making TB Davies the success it is today.
In 1941, in the midst of the Second World War, Bryn made a commitment we’re still keeping today: a commitment to do right by people. Promising a fellow serviceman that a job would be waiting for him after the war, in 1945, he set up TB Davies and made it happen.
We’re now celebrating our 70th anniversary – but our commitment to doing the right thing hasn’t changed. We’re now a busy team with expert staff who’ve been with us for decades. New products and new suppliers working with us in new markets mean our commitment to safety has never been stronger. Looking after our team, who in turn look after our customers, advising them on the best products and training them to use them safely, is as important as it’s ever been.
Education is key here. Our Working at Height Training Academy, set up in 2015, ensures that the original spirit of the company lives on, supporting our product range with dedicated expert safety-focused training. Our new demo vehicle is our latest initiative aimed at keeping people safe. It’s something we’d like to see on every major building project in South Wales to educate and protect all our customers.
We know that Bryn, with his strong sense of family values and commitment to friends, staff and customers alike, would be proud.
