TB Davies 60 year heritage is something we're rightly proud of with our customers at the heart of everything we do allowing us to build technical and commercial relationships with big businesses and consumers alike. As a result, we have put together a huge range of products for our customers so they can be assured that each and every one has been selected with their specific application in mind.

Where we've come from

TB. Davies was formed in 1945, by the Grandfather of our current MD and we are delighted to be celebrating over 65 years in business.

It all began in a small warehouse on Charles Street in the centre of Cardiff just after the war. Mr TB Davies or Bryn as he was known began buying and selling commodities to local traders before acquiring the distribution for 'Capothene' a brand of electrical cable in the early fifties. However as the global rubber price escalated and new PVC technologies arrived on the market it was soon destined to become obsolete.

By the 1960's the company moved to larger premises on Penarth road and began to diversify into other product areas including polystyrene packaging and ladders. The first ladder distribution covered South Wales only and was for a manufacturer called Lloyds Ladders. Soon the company had established a solid customer based and pioneered the introduction of the then revolutionary aluminium ladders. Initially sceptical local authorities soon became converts to the new product that was lower in maintenance, lighter and tougher than the wooden ladders they replaced.

The success was so great that company soon began supplying ladders across the UK and began taking on additional products and suppliers. During the late eighties we took on our first import franchise for a new and innovative folding ladder. This took the company into new areas supplying multiples such as Argos alongside it's by now core industrial market.

In the next few years, TB Davies began to evolve into a leaner, more responsive and more competitive organisation. Over this time several important products came and went including polystyrene and wire fencing. Access equipment remained at the fore and is now the company's core focus. Furthermore, we are very proud to have introduced the Little Giant Ladder System and the Xtend & Climb telescopic ladder to the UK as the official importer. The success of these products demonstrates our dedication to innovation and quality.

In recent years the business expanded further by establishing a manufacturing division, producing bespoke fabrications for the likes of Rolls Royce, Shell and the Ministry of Defence amongst others.

In 2004, the company and the current structure of the now TB Davies Group began to take shape. Today, two separately managed businesses; TB Davies and TBD UK form part of the group. TB Davies remains a prompt response industrial ladder and access supplier that globally sources product. TBD UK is the manufacturing arm whose product range stretches from Kik Steps though to highly engineered Ground Support Equipment for the aviation industry.

Now spanning four generations as a family business the company is organised around a new commercial framework and customer-focus, geared to meet the challenge of the times. To reflect this new, streamlined ethos the company has been simply re-branded as TB Davies, reaching the market through a framework of national chains, mail order, independent resellers, wholesalers, blue chip end users and a direct e-commerce web presence.

TB Davies owns the brand names and Trade Marks for KIK-STEP™ and STEPMOBILE™, as well as the newly launched Horizon™ , Summit™ & Pinnacle™ range of products.

We are an ISO registered company 9001:2000 and are constantly striving for excellence in customer service and support.

As members of the Ladder Association we are consulted by organisations such as the HSE(Health & Safety Executive) to support their best practice campaigns and offer industry advice when formulating new legislation, such as the Working at Height Regulations 2005

What we do

TB Davies is one of the country's leading suppliers of access solutions and services, delivering daily in all areas of the UK. Our products are primarily made from aluminium, steel and glass fibre, covering step ladders and extension ladders through to scaffold towers and more innovative items such as the articulated and telescopic ladders. We serve thousands of resale businesses and domestic customers, as well as several prominent wholesalers and blue chip organisations.

But we are much more than a ladder business. Covering all aspects of working at height our aim is to make life easier, simpler, and most importantly safer for all our customers. We are focused on providing our customers with a one stop shop for their access requirements and deliver what they require directly to site the Next Working Day.

Our organisation

The group consists of two separately managed businesses: TB Davies and TBD UK.

TBD UK is the manufacturing arm based in Bridgend, South Wales supplying TB Davies with a variety of products including Mobile Steps, Stepmobiles, Fixed Steps etc. The company also specialises in Ground Support Equipment and Specialist Access Solutions for Major Clients predominately in the Aerospace and Defence Sectors,

TB Davies operates as the distribution part of the business primarily supplying resellers with temporary access products including ladders, step ladder, tower scaffolding etc. The company also holds contracts with blue chip end users and supplies the consumer directly through its e-commerce portal ladders-online.
