PASMA and Children in Need come to town

November 11, 2014

Britain’s lead mobile tower trade association, PASMA, is coming to Cardiff to raise money for Children in Need and promote scaffold towers, at a time when falls from height are still the main cause of death at work.

As part of PASMA’s Tower Week – a week held on November 10-14 that spotlights the work towers can do and their role in keeping people who work at height safe – PASMA Chairman Chris Blantern is visiting as many of the association’s hundreds of training centres as possible, including TB Davies Cardiff Ltd.

Chris will be accompanied by Pudsey Bear, who will be joining him in climbing a tower at each stop. Chris and Pudsey can be sponsored on or by texting PASM99 to 70070, and their progress can be tracked on the site.

While preparing to set off, Chris said: “Children in Need keeps children safe and sound while they’re growing up, and PASMA helps keep them that way when they grow up and enter the workplace.

“Each goes that extra mile to safeguard and protect life by doing great work. Both believe it’s what you do that counts, which is why PASMA is supporting this year’s Children in Need appeal through Tower Week.”

Other activities during Tower Week will be centred on the website, which will host a quiz, the Tower Test, with the association giving a pound to Children In Need for every test completed.

Also online will be the ‘Tragically Terrible / Truly Terrific Towers’ social media campaign which asks the public to send in pictures of tower use (on PASMA’s Facebook, or to [email protected]). These will then be ranked out of ten by PASMA’s experts, and posted with this rating on the association’s Facebook page.

Finally, the week will also be marked by the release of the latest Tower Safety Packs, giving a wealth of knowledge vital to working at height. This year’s packs will be sent free to anyone who takes the Tower Test on the Tower Week site.

More details about what will be happening during Tower Week are being revealed on the site towerweek.pasma.org.uk as the week approaches.
