Xtend+Climb container goes missing in the Gulf of Aden as poor weather causes APL VANDA to lose 55 containers and damage a further 36. The incident caused the ship to dock at the port of Djibouti to make repairs and assess which containers were lost or damaged.
Fortunately, there were no injury reports, and all crew members were safe. Unfortunately for TB Davies, the whereabouts of one of our containers containing nearly 1,000 Xtend+Climb 3.2m telescopic ladders were initially unknown. Later the container was found unscathed and was waiting for a new ship to bring it to Europe.
The ship arrived in Southampton well behind schedule, but the warehouse team at TB Davies head office in Cardiff quickly despatched over 800 back-orders to customers to minimise further delays.
