TB Davies, the leading workplace solutions provider, recently provided a Bridging Step to a Speyside-based whiskey distillery in one of Scotland’s largest whiskey regions. An awkwardly positioned filter was causing a headache for their newly appointed health and safety officer.
The factory had a requirement to access this filter behind one of the main stills regularly. Until this point, it had been on an old set of step ladders used that were no longer fit for purpose.
A call to the TB Davies team provided several options, including a suggestion that the TB Davies Bridging Step was the ideal solution. Part of the access issue was some pipework that had to be bridged. The current step ladder solution was impractical because the pipework was too high to allow users to use the step ladder safely.
The Bridging Step is an innovative design that offers a safe, stable platform accessible from both sides and ideal for accessing difficult areas. It has twin-mounted handrails and kick plates to prevent tools or equipment from falling. The anti-slip platform and treads provide increased safety. It is also made from heavy-duty aluminium, making it ideal in various industrial environments. The platform has a 200kg weight capacity and is supplied with floor mounts, with an optional wheel kit also available.
The Bridging Steps had enough high clearance to bridge the pipework, and the users could access the steps from either side, further helping improve flow through that part of the factory.
