Maintaining Your Xtend+Climb Telescopic Ladder

February 27, 2023

When it comes to keeping your telescopic ladders in the best condition possible, there are a few essential maintenance tips and tricks you can use that will help ensure its longevity. Investing in a high-quality telescoping ladder like the 3.8m Xtend+Climb® ProSeries S2.0 will allow you to enjoy its features for longer, but just like any other piece of equipment, they require some TLC now and then.

As with all ladders and working-at-height equipment, it’s essential to inspect your ladder before each use to make sure it’s still in good condition and safe to use. Ensure all moving parts are lubricated using a silicone-based spray and the locking pins are securely fastened.

In addition to inspecting your telescoping ladder regularly, you should also store it in a dry and dust-free place when not in use. Storing the ladder in a dry place prevents rust from accumulating on metal parts of the ladder and keeps dust out of the mechanism to keep them working properly for longer.

To clean your telescopic ladder, you can use a soft cloth or brush to wipe away excess moisture or dirt on metal or plastic surfaces before allowing your ladder time to air dry completely before storing away again. Avoid using a hosepipe or washing the ladder, as this removes oil from within the mechanism and will cause the ladder to seize.

Another way to keep your telescopic ladders in top condition is by avoiding overreaching when using them; keep your belt buckle between the ladder stiles and avoid leaning too far outwards or backwards, as this puts extra strain on the joints, which could cause damage over time if done too frequently without proper rest between uses. When finished, always remember to retract your ladder completely.

Finally, never leave children unattended around ladders to prevent the ladder from being climbed or retracted dangerously.

By following these simple maintenance tips and tricks, you can keep your telescopic ladder functioning safely for longer and get more life out of your investment.
