TB Davies is now manufacturing Little Giant King Kombo ladders in the heart of Wales’s capital city. In this post, we’ll explain why the company decided to produce this award-winning ladder, which has directly led to a huge amount of positive feedback for the fourth-generation family-led business.
TB Davies has been the official UK importer of Little Giant goods since 2003 – and it all began with Patrick Gray (Chairman of TB Davies) meeting H. Arthur Wing (Co-Chairman & President of Little Giant Ladder Systems) at the International Tool Fair many years ago. The rest, as they say, is history.
However, when Covid-19 took hold across the world in early 2020, the knock-on effects were unprecedented. As a company, we knew that relying on importing fully assembled products wasn’t sustainable. This led TB Davies to the decision to start manufacturing the King Kombo Ladder in-house at their 4.5-acre Cardiff base, with the full support of the team at Little Giant Ladders.
The synergies between the two companies are striking, and between them, their shared values of continuous improvement lead the way to the very latest in innovations, with the primary aim of keeping the user safe at height. Little Giant Ladder Systems were heavily involved with the work that enabled TB Davies to begin building the King Kombo at their UK site.
TB Davies moved to their current location in 2015, taking over the premises from former residents Capital Coated Steel. As an existing steel manufacturing site, it had spacious offices and all the production facilities needed for the current and future business needs, including planning permission for future construction works as requirements arise. The business premises perfectly suited their plans that are now in operation for the production of the Little Giant King Kombo Ladder in Cardiff.
This overall project has generated many jobs for the local Splott and wider community, with TB Davies expanding their workforce by nearly 30%. Between the team, we aim to process your order for same-day despatch by 3 pm for the next working day delivery.
Having now completed vigorous testing of the new equipment and processes used in the production of this multi-purpose step, TB Davies will be holding an official open day of the facility – *Date to be Confirmed*, which will be opened by [Patrick Gray (Chairman), David Gray (MD), Francis Camilleri (Business Development Director).
So the next time you see this awarding winning ladder on your travels, it is highly likely to have been hand built in the UK by the team at TB Davies.
