HSE Falls From Vehicles Campaign

November 5, 2007 HSE Leave a reply

Three million people in the UK work on or near vehicles as part of the job. The economic and human cost of the falls from vehicles that we know about was over £36 million in 2004/05.

The Health & Safety executive (HSE) has launched a new initiative to highlight the risks of slips, trips & falls from vehicles. Many falls from vehicles happen during loading & unloading – you do not have to fall far to land hard and cause serious injury.

A series of information sheets have been produced to provide guidance. If you specify delivery vehicles, oversee their maintenance or manage operations involving the loading and unloading of goods this information may help you understand why people fall from these kinds of vehicles and how these falls can be prevented.
